Commercial Integrity  ·  The Old Hands Standard

Contracted clarity.

We operate under commercial principles designed to protect your business and foster mutual trust. No hostage repositories, no vague billing, and no vendor lock-in.

RULE 01

No Quotes for Unwritten Scope

We do not quote fixed prices for software we have not specified. Agreeing to a fixed price without a clear, written domain specification is the root cause of failed IT projects. We do the discovery work first.

RULE 02

Payment on Acceptance Only

No payment in advance of delivered work. Every invoice is tied to an agreed deliverable with clear acceptance criteria. If a deliverable doesn't satisfy what was agreed in writing, you don't pay for it.

RULE 03

You Own the Code From Day One

Source code lives in a repository under your company's direct administrative control from the very first commit. No proprietary runtime wrappers, no compiled black boxes, and zero vendor hostage-taking.

RULE 04

Independent Review Welcomed

You are invited and encouraged to have any technically competent third party inspect our code, schema, and architecture before sign-off. We build systems that pass rigorous independent review.

RULE 05

Direct Senior Accountability

When you contact Old Hands, you deal directly with the senior engineers who architected and maintain your systems. You speak to the people holding the production keys, never call-centre deflection scripts.

RULE 06

Earn the Relationship

We believe long-term business relationships are earned through dependable delivery, not coercive contracts. We provide clean exit provisions and documentation so you are never trapped.

These are the terms. Shall we talk?

If these standards align with how your business wants to work, a conversation with us is a short email away.
